I am no longer able to take any anti-depressants due to a severe drug reaction I had while pregnant 8 years ago. I also needed to get off benzo-drugs because they made me feel like I had been hit by a truck most days! I had to learn how to deal with it myself which was really hard. I read a lot on neuroplasticity of the brain and cognitive behavioral therapy and began to "treat myself". I found the therapy "music" with strange sounds to be anxiety inducing, not calming. I searched through a ton of music to find something that worked and I stumbled across the solo piano music of David Nevue. Many nights I would fall asleep with ear buds in...playing his music on repeat. It definitely had a calming effect for me. At one time I was afraid to go anywhere that wasn't close to a hospital due to the issues I was having. In the first year I didn't think I would live! Today, I still have my struggles, but I am not on medication and have found my "healthy" coping mechanisms. I highly recommend giving David Nevue a try.

Thanks,Jan. I know from experience that getting off Benzo's is torture. You are such a strong woman for getting off the meds. Do you have compassionate support system? Your introduction was inviting, and I wanted to read more about you. I couldn't find a blog. Do you have one? Currently, I am using a diffuser with Lavender *have always been a skeptic of aromatherapy, but it works! Also, my anxiety has been really bad lately, so I have been reading the Recovery Bible and meditations for the Twelve steps. It helps reading about hurt people helping hurt people.
